    WHISTLEBLOWER

    The whistleblower is the worker who, during his work within a company or public administration, detects incorrect behaviour, the commission of a crime, a danger or another serious risk that could harm colleagues, shareholders, the public or the reputation of the company/public body itself: s/he decides, therefore, to report it.

    The first people to detect abnormal behaviour or situations within an undertaking or public body are often those who work there and who are in a privileged position to report these irregularities. However, the employee often prefers not to expose himself/herself for fear of repercussions.

    The Law of 30 November 2017 was recently enacted, n. 179 containing “Provisions for the protection of whistleblowers of crimes or irregularities of which they have become aware in the context of a public or private employment relationship”, which modifies certain aspects of the legislation in the public sector (Art. 54-bis of Legislative Decree 165/2001) and extends the whistleblowing discipline to the private sector (Art. 6 of Legislative Decree 231/2001).

    De Angelis Food recently implemented an advanced whistleblowing system; communications/reports can be sent to SPT members through the appropriate platform. Access to the new Whistlebowing System is allowed to both registered and unregistered (anonymous) users.
